Mexico’s Iusacell Extends CDMA to Olympics
Mexican CDMA operator Iusacell will offer its customers a roaming option at the Beijing Olympics, the company and its technology partner Aicent said today.

Aicent is a specialist in linking wireless operators’ networks into IP networks for roaming and exchange services. Beijing is already the site of its Asian office, so the company is in a strong position to work with carriers at the summer games starting Aug. 8.

Mexican Mobile Operator Uses Aicent's CDMA Roaming eXchange
Mexican mobile operator Iusacell is using Aicent’s CDMA Roaming eXchange (CRX) service to provide their subscribers CDMA-based data roaming in China in time for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.Aicent’s CDMA Roaming eXchange will enable data roaming onto China’s CDMA network, operated by China Unicom (News - Alert). China Unicom’s CDMA network covers all of China and Hong Kong.

GSMA completes multi-vendor image share trials in China
The GSMA and China Mobile have successfully completed the first multi-vendor trials of interoperable Image Share services. This service, which allows mobile customers to share images with the person they are talking to on a phone call, was tested using mobile applications and devices provided by Nokia, Ericsson, Siemens, Motorola, Samsung and Comneon on an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) provided by Nokia Siemens Networks in China Mobile’s laboratories in Beijing. The ability to send images across GSM networks was also verified using interworking capabilities provided by Aicent.

GSMA’s Hubbing Programme to Streamline Delivery of SMS Messages
Exchanging text messages across the world’s 700 GSM networks will become a reality following the successful completion of the second phase of the GSM Association’s trials of a hub-based interoperability structure.
First unveiled in February 2006, the GSMA’s new hub-based structure will deliver major operational and financial efficiencies to mobile operators by removing the need to reach time-consuming bilateral inter-working agreements. Now that the trials are complete, the GSMA expects operators to begin using the hub system for live delivery of commercial text messages before the end of 2006 enabling them to extend to the international SMS service to the full GSM community and beyond.

Aicent enables Vodafone K.K. to display mails written in Chinese
Vodafone K.K. today announces the introduction of a new function to its Global MMS*1 service for Vodafone K.K. 3G handsets*2 which displays mails written in foreign languages. At the time of launch on 3 April 2006, customers will be able to send mails in Japanese to China Mobile and China Unicom customers, and also receive mails written in Chinese from customers using these same operators. Vodafone K.K. plans to expand this capability to more countries and regions that use non-English languages.
