Aicent Reaches Industry Milestone for MMS Interconnections Between Asia Pacific and Europe
Provides Largest Intercontinental Hub Routing for More Than 70 Mobile Operators
SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 13, 2006-–Aicent Inc., a leading provider of mobile data network services and solutions for global mobile operators, today announced that it has reached a significant milestone by enabling the largest number of routes for Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) exchange between Asia Pacific and Europe. Aicent's MMS Gateway Service can now provide one-stop interconnections to more than 30 Asia Pacific operators, and another 30 plus European operators for two-way commercial MMS exchange. Until recently, MMS interconnection between Europe and Asia was virtually unavailable.
Over two-thirds of these MMS routes have been established by direct service contracts between Aicent and those mobile operators. The remaining routes are provided by Aicent interconnection agreements with other MMS hubs, all in compliance with GSM Association interworking guidelines.
Aicent MMS Gateway Service, one of the world's first MMS interworking services, has provided mobile operators with a high quality and cost-effective way to rapidly establish commercial MMS delivery and termination capabilities since 2003. To date, over 800 operator MMS interworking pairs have been launched via the Aicent MMS Gateway, with monthly traffic volume growth in excess of 15 percent. In addition, Aicent's powerful value added service features, such as MMS Virtual Delivery and Text-to-Image Conversion, significantly enhance mobile operator's MMS delivery success rate and user experience, and increase ARPU.
"With MMS becoming an increasingly attractive service for consumers around the world, mobile operators are tasked with offering seamless and reliable MMS interconnectivity across international boundaries," said Lynn Liu, Aicent President and CEO. "Aicent's interoperable MMS footprint is helping global mobile operators increase user satisfaction and further stimulate MMS industry uptake."
Aicent's MMS coverage in the Far East includes China, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. In Southeast Asia, Aicent MMS service reaches Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, and other countries. Aicent service is also used by operators in Australia, New Zealand, and India. In Western Europe, Aicent has extended its coverage in countries such as the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Portugal, and in Eastern Europe including Hungary, Czech Republic, Russia, and Romania. In Scandinavia, Aicent service reaches Finland, Norway, Denmark and Sweden. Today, Aicent continues to expand its coverage in these regions and in the Americas, Middle East and Africa.
