Aicent Extends Its Reach in Europe via KPN Eurorings
In a Strategic Partnership, KPN to Resell Aicent GRX and Peer with MMS
San Jose, CA – February 13, 2006 –Aicent Inc., a leading provider of mobile data network services and solutions for global mobile operators, announced that it has entered into an infrastructure services agreement with Royal KPN N.V. (NYSE: KPN) to expand its network footprint in Europe via the KPN Eurorings, a pan-European fiber-optic network. This arrangement allows Aicent customers throughout eastern and western Europe to connect to all Aicent mobile messaging solutions, including GRX, MMS, SMS, etc., through local POP connections in over thirty six (36) top destination cities in eighteen (18) countries that are covered by KPN’s Eurorings network.
Separately, KPN has also entered into a reseller agreement to offer Aicent GRX services. As a leading telecom service provider in Europe, KPN’s extensive local market knowledge and presence, combined with Aicent GRX strengths, offers a unique value that is appealing to European mobile operators. Today, Aicent‘s GRX connects over 40 leading mobile operators, with over 500 million mobile subscribers, while reaching all other GPRS/3G networks via extensive peering arrangements. The combination of Aicent GRX and KPN Eurorings networks promises a unique, industry-leading high quality GRX connection for European operators both to its neighboring countries and to inter-continental destinations in Asia Pacific and the Americas, all under a very affordable cost.
In addition, KPN and Aicent have signed an MMS hub peering agreement, which allows the two companies to exchange their respective MMS hub coverage. The Aicent MMS hub is currently used by over 70 mobile operators in Europe, the Americas and Asia Pacific, and the KPN MMS hub is connected with operators in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, and other European countries.
