Aicent Introduces Text2Image Messaging Service
San Jose, CA, November 22, 2004 – Aicent, Inc., a leading provider of inter-operator mobile messaging hub services, today announced an innovative, new Text2Image Messaging Service that allows mobile users to receive and display messages written in foreign languages without installing new software.
As the global mobile messaging market experiences rapid growth, more and more messages are sent to international destinations where the recipient’s handset may not be able to display the message written in a foreign language. To solve this problem, Aicent has implemented an image converter solution within its messaging hub platform that inter-connects global mobile operators. Once Aicent platform detects that the text language cannot be supported by the recipient’s handset, it converts the text, whether written in the SMS or MMS format, into a picture image and then delivers it as an MMS message through the Aicent MMS hub, therefore guarantees the proper text display by the recipient.
This Text2Image Messaging Service is the latest addition to Aicent’s successful mobile messaging service portfolio. In late 2003, Aicent launched the world’s first MMS interworking hub, the Aicent MMS Gateway Service, and has since directly connected to nearly 30 operators, making it the largest MMS hub in commercial operation today. Many new service features have also been introduced, such as Inter-standard MMS Interworking, Anti-Spamming, Anti-Virus, Fraud Alert, Throttling Control, and Web-based Virtual Coverage. These new features address the pressing issues faced by operators, and make Aicent MMS Gateway Service the most comprehensive hub offering in the industry. The new Aicent Text2Image Messaging Service is immediately available to global mobile operators. Together with the Aicent MMS Gateway Service, it provides mobile users a long-awaited capability to receive and display international SMS and MMS messages written in any foreign languages. Already, several operators, including LG TeleCom, Ltd. in Korea, are planning to introduce this Aicent solution to their subscribers before the end of this year.
