Aicent Announces MMS Gateway Services with China Mobile and Twenty Leading Asian Operators
San Jose, CA, April 13, 2004 - Aicent, Inc. announced today that it has signed a Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) Gateway Service contract with China Mobile Communications Corporation (NYSE:CHL, HKSE:0941.HK). Under the terms of the contract, China Mobile will use the Aicent MMS Gateway Service as the central hub to interconnect with international operators, enabling China Mobile subscribers to exchange multimedia messages with friends and families serviced by other operators. According to the GSM Association, more than 160 operators worldwide have launched MMS services. Inter-operator MMS interworking is considered an important catalyst to MMS market growth and is regarded as a top priority among global 2.5G/3G operators. The commercial deployment of international MMS by China Mobile, the world's largest mobile operator, marks a new milestone in global MMS interconnectivity. Aicent launched its commercial MMS Gateway Service in September 2003. Since then, more than 20 leading Asian operators have connected to Aicent for MMS interworking. Covering the majority of mobile subscribers in Asia, the Aicent MMS Gateway is one of the largest inter-operator MMS exchanges in the world.
