Aicent And MACH Dan Net Join Forces Within MMS Interworking
September 24, 2004
MACH Dan Net today announced the general availability of its new MMS hub service that enables mobile operators to rapidly establish global MMS inter-working. The service is offered under the MACH Dan Net brand, with the network and system elements partitioned and operated from Aicent's European MMS Gateway platform co-located at the GRX peering point in Amsterdam. The arrangement enables rapid market entry for MMS Inter-working Services for MACH Dan Net and provides extensive mutual coverage through an innovative "virtual peering" between the two companies.
With SMS being the mobile success of the last decade and tens of billions being exchanged yearly worldwide, MMS is set to become one of the great growth opportunities for the mobile industry in the coming years. In Europe alone, MMS phone penetration is expected to reach 20% by the end of 2004 and the market will grow to 132 million users by 2007 according to industry experts.
As MMS is expected to become the de facto standard for multimedia messaging, the initiative is in response to the recognition that a critical mass of enabled handsets is being reached in a number prime markets and the technical prerequisites for MMS interoperability between operators are being resolved.
"We are delighted to announce this partnership with MACH Dan Net", said Adil Pastakia, Aicent's General Manager for EMEA, "with their extensive global customer base of leading mobile operators and data and financial clearing house expertise, enabling their MMS service offering was a natural fit for our European strategy. Both MACH Dan Net and Aicent customers will benefit from the virtual peering arrangement, which will provide extensive coverage at competitive rates".
"With signing this agreement, we are able to launch our MMS Interworking Service on a proven platform and are ready to provide a complete MMS interconnect service that includes transportation, mediation, rating, clearing and reporting of MMS traffic. In addition to our high service levels and consistent dedication to client support, a full suite of services provided to our clients today can be directly applied to the MMS Interworking. We are therefore confident that we can provide the service quality required by the mobile operator community for this promising service area", said Henrik Gustavsson, VP Partnerships at MACH Dan Net.
